A Special Cave in China

The Baishiya Karst Cave is a wonderful and important cave in Xiahe County, Gansu, China. It sits near the edge of the big Tibetan Plateau. This cave is special for many reasons.

People have known about this cave for a long time because it is also a very important place for Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Many monks visit to think quietly and fast. The cave is near a beautiful temple and is thought to be a home for important spiritual leaders.

Inside the cave, scientists made a very exciting discovery. They found an old piece of jawbone called the Xiahe mandible. This jawbone helped scientists learn about ancient humans named Denisovans. It showed that these ancient humans could live in very high places, even when it was hard to breathe, a long time ago.

The Baishiya Karst Cave helps us understand more about where people lived long, long ago and how they lived in tough places. It is a special spot that teaches us about both history and nature.
