Small Helpers in Science

Some scientists use tiny animals to learn about how all living things work. These special animals are called model organisms. They are easy to care for and study, which helps scientists learn new things.

One famous helper is Drosophila, a little fruit fly. These flies help us learn about how animals grow and how traits are passed from parents to babies.

Other small helpers include molluscs like snails and clams, and a tiny worm called Caenorhabditis elegans. Even small sea creatures called tunicates and little fish like zebrafish help scientists understand how bodies work.

By studying these friendly creatures, scientists can discover important ideas that help keep people healthy and understand nature better.
