Welcome to Chad!
Chad is a big, beautiful country in the middle of Africa. It is landlocked, meaning it does not touch the ocean. Chad shares borders with many countries, including Libya, Sudan, the Central African Republic, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Niger. The capital city is N'Djamena, where many people live and work.
Nature and Landscapes
Chad has many different kinds of land. In the north, you can find the hot and sandy Sahara desert. As you move south, the land changes to green grasses and trees, called the Sudanian Savanna. One of the most famous places in Chad is Lake Chad. This large lake is home to many fish and birds. It gives the country its name!
People and Culture
Chad is home to many different groups of people. They speak many languages, but two main ones are Arabic and French. People in Chad enjoy many festivals, especially those from Islam and Christianity. Food in Chad often uses a grain called millet. One popular dish is millet balls with tasty sauces. Music is also very important. Instruments like the kinde harp and kakaki horn make beautiful sounds. Football (soccer) is the most loved sport, and some Chadian players have joined teams in Europe.
