Welcome to Croatia!
Croatia is a beautiful country in Europe. It sits right along the sparkling Adriatic Sea and has a coast with more than 1,000 islands! Croatia is bordered by Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. The capital city is Zagreb, but other fun places to visit include Split and Dubrovnik.
A Land of Beauty
Croatia has many different landscapes. In the north, there are green hills. In the east, you’ll find wide, flat fields. Near the coast, there are pretty mountains and forests. One of the most famous spots is the Plitvice Lakes, where colorful lakes are linked by waterfalls. Croatia also has many islands, like Brač and Hvar, where you can enjoy sunny beaches and clear water.

People have lived in Croatia for thousands of years. Long ago, the Romans built cities and big buildings, like the palace in Split for Emperor Diocletian. Over time, Croatia was part of different kingdoms and empires. Today, Croatia is its own country, and people there love to keep their history alive through traditions, art, and festivals.
