Curve

A colorful fractal pattern known as the dragon curve, a fun geometric shape made by repeating folds.

What is a Curve?

A curve is like a line, but it doesn't have to be straight. Imagine drawing with a crayon and making a wiggly line instead of a straight one. That wiggly line is a curve! Curves can be smooth and soft, or twisty and fun to follow.

People have loved curves for thousands of years. You can see curves in old art and on beautiful buildings. Long ago, smart people studied curves to solve tricky shape puzzles.

Fun Curve Facts

Curves can loop around like the edge of a circle. Some even twist up in the air like a spiral slide! Curves help us understand motion, like how planets move around the sun or how a ball rolls.

One simple curve is called a parabola. It looks like the path a thrown ball takes. Curves are all around us β€” in nature, art, and even in how we build things!
