Who Was Fibonacci?

Fibonacci was a clever Italian mathematician who lived a very long time ago, around the year 1200. He was born in a place called Bugia, which is now part of Algeria. As a young boy, he traveled with his father and learned about numbers from people in different lands.

Fibonacci's Big Book

Fibonacci wrote a famous book called Liber Abaci in 1202. This book showed people in Europe a new way to use numbers, called the Indo–Arabic numeral system. This made math much easier for everyday things like counting money and measuring things. His book helped people do calculations better and faster.

The Special Number List

In his book, Fibonacci told a fun story about rabbit families. This story led to a special list of numbers called the Fibonacci numbers. These numbers start with 0 and 1. Each new number is just the sum of the two numbers before it, like 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, and so on. This idea is still used and loved by many people who enjoy numbers today.
