Hanukkah
Hanukkah is a joyful holiday celebrated by Jewish families all around the world. It lasts for eight nights and days, and each night, families light one more candle on a special candle holder called a Hanukkah menorah.
The story behind Hanukkah is about a miracle with oil. Long ago, a small amount of oil was found, but it burned for eight days instead of just one! This is why we celebrate for eight nights.
During Hanukkah, families come together to light the menorah, play a fun game called dreidel, and eat tasty fried foods like latkes and sufganiyot. Some families even give small gifts each night.
Hanukkah is especially popular in the Western world because it happens close to another big holiday, making it a special time for everyone. Big public menorahs are lit in many cities, and people gather to celebrate together.
Hanukkah reminds us of a wonderful story and brings families closer. It is a time filled with light, joy, and good food!
