What is Herpetology?
Herpetology is the fun study of amphibians and reptiles! It comes from old words that mean "creeping animal." Amphibians include frogs, salamanders, and caecilians. Reptiles include snakes, lizards, turtles, and crocodiles. Scientists who study these cool animals are called herpetologists.
Why Do We Study Them?
Herpetologists love to learn about these cold-blooded animals. They study how they live, grow, and change. Watching amphibians helps us see early signs of changes in our world. Some special things from these animals can even help people in medicine! For example, snake venom can help make medicines for serious health problems.
Fun Animal Facts
Amphibians and reptiles are found all over the world. There are thousands of different kinds! Some live in forests, others in deserts, and many in wetlands. They all have special ways to survive and stay healthy. Herpetologists work together to learn more about these amazing creatures and share their discoveries with everyone.
