All About Insects

Insects are tiny but amazing animals that live all around us. They are part of a big group called arthropods and have very special bodies. Insects have a hard shell that covers them, called an exoskeleton. Their bodies are split into three parts: a head, a middle part called the thorax, and a back part called the abdomen.

Most insects have six legs and often have wings, which means many can fly! They also have antennae on their heads to feel around and big eyes to see. There are more than a million kinds of insects, which makes them one of the most common animals on Earth.

Insects are very important for nature. They help plants grow by spreading something called pollen from flower to flower. Some insects, like ants and bees, live together in big groups and work as a team. Insects also help keep the world clean by eating things that are no longer useful.

People know about insects because some are helpful, like honey bees that give us sweet honey, and others can be tricky, like mosquitoes. But all insects have their own special jobs in the world, and we need to take care of them.
