Iron Maiden is a famous heavy metal band from Leyton, East London. They started in 1975 and have been making music for over 40 years. The band was created by Steve Harris, who plays the bass guitar. Iron Maiden helped start something called the new wave of British heavy metal.
The band has made many popular albums. Their first album came out in 1980, followed by Killers in 1981 and The Number of the Beast in 1982. The Number of the Beast was the first album with their lead singer, Bruce Dickinson, who joined in 1981. Their music often tells stories about history, myths, and imagination.
