Laos

Welcome to Laos!

Laos is a beautiful country in Mainland Southeast Asia. It is special because it is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia. This means Laos is surrounded by mountains and other countries on all sides. It shares borders with Myanmar, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand.

The capital city of Laos is Vientiane. It is a place where many people live and important buildings stand. Vientiane is very nice and has a peaceful feeling.

Beautiful Places

Laos has many wonderful places to see. Three special spots are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These are the town of Luang Prabang, the temple complex of Vat Phou, and the mysterious Plain of Jars. These places are very old and full of history.

Laos also has high mountains. The tallest one is Phou Bia. It is very tall, reaching 2,818 metres high! The country has flat areas too, and the Mekong River flows along the western side, next to Thailand.

Nature and Animals

Laos has a tropical climate. From May to October, it is rainy, and from November to April, it is dry. The country is full of forests and rivers. These forests and rivers are home to many animals, including some that are special and need protection.

Laos is divided into 17 provinces and one special area. This special area includes the capital city, Vientiane. Each province has its own capital city and many people living there.

Laos is a wonderful place with rich history, beautiful landscapes, and many interesting things to explore. It is a country full of peace and natural beauty.
