Medusa
Medusa was a famous character from ancient Greek stories. She was one of three sisters called the Gorgons. Medusa had something very special—her hair was made of snakes! She came from a family of sea gods, with parents Phorcys and Ceto.
Many people know about Medusa because of her unique look and her story. Artists have drawn and sculpted her for thousands of years. She appears in paintings, sculptures, and even on some flags today. For example, she is on the flag of Sicily.
Even though Medusa’s tale is old, it still inspires us. Her name is used for animals in the sea, like a special kind of starfish called Gorgonocephalus caputmedusae. Medusa reminds us of the wonderful and imaginative stories from ancient times.
