What Was the Middle Jurassic?

The Middle Jurassic was a special time in Earth's history. It happened about 174 to 161 million years ago. The world looked very different then! The climate was warm, and the oceans covered many lands.

Places and Rocks

Scientists study rocks and fossils from this time to learn about the past. Important places with fossils include England, Scotland, France, China, Russia, Niger, and Madagascar. These rocks tell stories about how Earth changed.

Animals and Plants

Many exciting animals lived during the Middle Jurassic. Dinosaurs like brachiosaurs and megalosaurs walked on land. In the oceans, ammonites and plesiosaurs swam. Small mammals were also around, exploring the world.

Plants such as conifers, ginkgoes, and ferns grew everywhere, making forests full of life.
