Remembering a Special Place

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a quiet and peaceful garden in New York City. It is built where two tall buildings called the Twin Towers once stood. Today, the garden has many trees and two large water pools that look like the old towers. It is a place where people can think, remember, and show respect.

This special place was made to honor the people who were lost during two very sad events. Visitors can walk through the garden and see the names of those who were lost written on bronze walls around the pools. There is also a strong and beautiful tree called the “Survivor Tree” that grew after the sad events. It stands as a symbol of hope and new beginnings.

The National September 11 Museum is nearby and shares stories and objects from those difficult days. It helps people learn and remember in a calm and thoughtful way. Many visitors come to the memorial and museum each year to show they care and to honor everyone who was affected.
