Welcome to Portugal!

Portugal is a beautiful country in Europe. It sits on a place called the Iberian Peninsula and has two special island groups: Madeira and the Azores. Over 10 million people live here, and they love to share their warm smiles and friendly ways.

Lisbon, the capital city, is a place full of old buildings, colorful tiles, and big hills with funiculars that take you up. It’s a city where old meets new, with busy streets and calm riverside spots. Portugal’s story goes back thousands of years, with many different cultures leaving their marks. One of the most exciting times was during the Age of Discovery, when brave sailors from Portugal explored new sea routes and connected the world.

The land of Portugal is very different in each part. In the north, you’ll find green hills and cool breezes. In the south, the land is flatter and warmer, perfect for growing olives and grapes. The west coast has sandy beaches where people love to surf and play in the waves. And don’t forget the islands! Madeira is known for its floating gardens, while the Azores has beautiful lakes and mountains.

People in Portugal enjoy many fun traditions. They love music, especially a sad and beautiful style called fado. They also enjoy tasty foods like bacalhau, which is salted codfish, and pastel de nata, a yummy custard tart. And when it comes to sports, football is huge! Many kids dream of being as good as famous players like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Portugal is a place where history, nature, and friendly people come together. Whether you’re walking through old cities, visiting sunny beaches, or trying delicious food, there’s always something new and exciting to discover in Portugal.
