Pteranodon
Pteranodon was a giant flying reptile that lived long ago. Its name means "wing without tooth" because it had a long beak but no teeth. Pteranodons lived during the time of the dinosaurs, in what is now North America.
These amazing creatures had very big wings. Some Pteranodons had wingspans as wide as a school bus! They could glide through the air for hours, using the wind to travel far distances. Scientists think they flew like modern albatross birds.
Pteranodons had special crests on top of their heads. Male Pteranodons had long, pointy crests, while females had smaller, rounded ones. These crests might have been used to attract mates or show off.
We know about Pteranodons from fossils found in places like Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming. These fossils help scientists learn about how they lived and what they looked like. Many Pteranodon fossils have been found, making it one of the most well-known flying reptiles from the past.
Pteranodons probably ate fish by dipping their beaks into the water. They lived above a big sea called the Western Interior Seaway, where many fish and other sea creatures swam. It was a time when the sky and sea were full of wonderful, flying animals.
