Riyadh is the capital city of Saudi Arabia. It is a big, busy city with lots of people and exciting places to see. Riyadh sits in the middle of the Arabian Peninsula, in a dry, open area called the Nafud desert. The city is built on a high piece of land called a plateau in the region known as Najd.
A Growing City
Riyadh has grown very much over the years. It started as a small town and became the capital of Saudi Arabia. Today, more than 7 million people live there, making it the biggest city in the country. Many families, workers, and businesses have moved to Riyadh, making it a lively place.
Fun Places and Events
Riyadh is full of interesting spots. Near the city is Diriyah, an old town that is a UNESCO heritage site. It has beautiful old buildings and tells stories from the past. Riyadh will also host Expo 2030, a big world event, becoming the second Arab city to do so after Dubai.
The city loves sports, especially football. Riyadh has four big football teams that many people cheer for. The city also holds fun festivals like Jenadriyah, where you can see camel races and enjoy poetry. Every year, the Riyadh International Book Fair brings together many books and readers from around the world.

Riyadh mixes new and old in a special way. Tall, shiny skyscrapers stand next to old palaces and museums. The National Museum of Saudi Arabia shows treasures and stories from the country’s history. You can also visit places like the Al-Masmak Palace, which has strong walls and a fascinating history.
