A Sad Day Remembered
On a day in 2001, something very sad happened in the United States. Many people were hurt, and it made everyone feel very sad. This day is remembered as September 11, or 9/11.
Because of this sad day, people built special places to remember those who were lost. One of these places is the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City. It has quiet spaces with names and stories to help us remember.
Even though that day was very sad, it also brought people together to help each other and build new things. Today, the place where the old buildings once stood has new tall buildings, like One World Trade Center. These buildings stand strong as a sign of hope and remembering.
Every year, people gather to honor and respect those who were lost on that day. They light special beams of light and share stories to keep memories alive.
The events of that day taught the world about the importance of safety, care, and remembering those we love.
