Welcome to Singapore!

Singapore is a tiny island country in Southeast Asia. It is right at the bottom of the Malay Peninsula, between the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea. Singapore has one big island and many small islands. It is very close to Malaysia.

Singapore used to be called Temasek. A long time ago, a prince named Sang Nila Utama saw something that looked like a lion and named the place Singapura, which means "lion city." In 1819, a British leader named Stamford Raffles helped make Singapore a busy trading place for the British Empire. After a difficult time, Singapore became its own country in 1965.

Today, Singapore is one of the richest places in the world. It is very safe, clean, and has great schools. Many people visit for its fun airports, shopping, and important business areas. Singapore is also known for having many different cultures. People there speak four main languages: English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil. The city is busy but also has many beautiful parks and green spaces.

Singapore is called the "Garden City" because of its many parks. One famous garden is the Singapore Botanic Gardens, which is very special and important to the world. The country loves flowers, and its national flower is a pretty orchid.

People in Singapore work hard and are very friendly. The government helps everyone get good healthcare and education. Children go to school for many years and learn a lot. Singapore’s students are very good at math, science, and reading.

The city has many places to see, like temples, museums, and tall buildings. It is a place where many different traditions come together, and everyone celebrates together. Singapore is a shining example of how a small place can become very important and successful.
