Superheroes
Superheroes are special characters who have amazing powers or abilities that normal people do not have. They wear unique costumes that help hide who they really are. Their main goal is to help make the world become a better place by protecting the public and stopping crime.
Superhero stories, called superhero fiction, began in the 1930s with American comic books. Today, we see them in many places, like Hollywood films, film serials, television, and video games. They also appear in Japanese stories such as kamishibai, tokusatsu, manga, and anime.
Superheroes come from many different places and have many different kinds of powers. Some, like Superman and Spider-Man, have superhuman powers because of how they were created. Others, like Batman and Iron Man, use clever technology they invented themselves. Some heroes rely on magical items, mystical forces, or even alien powers, like Green Lantern and He-Man. Others practice magic, such as Doctor Fate and Doctor Strange.
The idea of superheroes is very old. Characters from ancient stories, like Heracles and Odysseus, had special powers too, just like modern superheroes. In the early 1900s, stories such as The Scarlet Pimpernel introduced heroes with a secret identity. By the 1930s, comic books made superheroes very popular. Characters like Superman and Batman became famous for their amazing powers and secret identities.
Today, superheroes continue to change and grow. New heroes from many different backgrounds appear in stories. This includes heroes from many cultures and with different life experiences. Superheroes remind us of the importance of helping others and standing up for what is right.
