The Holocaust

The Holocaust was a very sad time for many Jewish families in Europe. It happened during a difficult time called World War II. Many people were treated unfairly by a group called the Nazis. The Nazis were in charge of Germany and believed in unfair ideas about race.

Jews have lived in Europe for thousands of years. Before the sad events, many Jewish families lived normal lives in places like Poland, France, and the Netherlands. They spoke many languages and had their own traditions.

After the war ended, many Jewish people tried to rebuild their lives. Some stayed in Europe, while others moved to new places like Israel or the United States. Today, we remember all the people who suffered during this time. We learn about it to make sure everyone is treated with kindness and respect.

We remember the Holocaust every year on International Holocaust Remembrance Day to honor those who were lost and to teach the world about the importance of human rights.
