Welcome to Tunisia!
Tunisia is a sunny country in North Africa. It sits right by the Mediterranean Sea, with Algeria to the west and Libya to the southeast. Tunisia is small but full of amazing places and history!
Beautiful Lands and Old Stories
Tunisia has many different landscapes. In the north, you’ll find mild winters and hot summers along the coast. The south is dry and feels like a desert. Tunisia also has parts of the Atlas Mountains and is home to Africa’s northernmost point, Cape Angela. Long ago, Tunisia was home to interesting groups like the Berbers. Later, big cities like Carthage grew up here. After that, the strong Roman Empire ruled the land. Many new cities were built, and Tunisia became a place where many cultures met.
Cities and Places to Know
Tunisia’s biggest city is Tunis, the capital, full of life and history. Other important cities include Sfax, Sousse, and Kairouan. You can explore old buildings, visit busy souks, and enjoy the blue sea. Tunisia also has the Jebel ech Chambi mountain, the highest point in the country, and Chott el Djerid, a salty lake below sea level.
Culture and Fun
Tunisia’s culture is rich and colorful. People enjoy music, art, and festivals all year. The International Festival of Carthage in July is a big event with music and theater.
