Description and Characteristics

Allopsontus swani is a tiny insect that belongs to the family Machilidae. It is part of the insect order Archaeognatha, also called jumping bristletails. These insects are very old and have not changed much since ancient times.

Allopsontus swani looks like other jumping bristletails. They have long, thin legs and can jump using strong hind legs. This makes them different from insects like beetles or butterflies.

Habitat and Behavior

These insects live in moist places, such as soil, leaf litter, or under rocks. They need shelter and humidity to survive. Even though they are small, they are important to the ecosystems where they live.

Studying these creatures helps scientists learn about how insects have changed over millions of years.
