Jonathan Michael Lovitz is an American comedian and actor, born on July 21, 1957. He is best known for being a cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 1985 to 1990. During his time on SNL, he was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards.
In addition to his work on SNL, Lovitz has had a successful career in many other shows and movies. He starred as Jay Sherman in The Critic from 1994 to 1995 and has made many voice and guest appearances on The Simpsons. He has also appeared in popular shows like Seinfeld, Friends, and NewsRadio. From 2012 to 2015, he was in the sitcom Mr. Box Office.

Early life and education
Jonathan Lovitz was born on July 21, 1957, in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles. His family is Jewish and came from Romania, Hungary, and Russia. He went to the Harvard-Westlake School and later studied drama at UC Irvine, graduating in 1979. After that, he studied acting and joined the Groundlings comedy troupe, where he met future friends and coworkers like Lisa Kudrow and Phil Hartman.
Career
Jon Lovitz started his career in 1985 with a role in the TV show Foley Square. Soon after, he joined Saturday Night Live, where he became known for his funny characters like "Tommy Flanagan, The Pathological Liar" and "Hanukkah Harry." He was nominated for two Emmy Awards while he was on the show.

Lovitz played in The New Celebrity Apprentice (also called Celebrity Apprentice 8). He did this to help the charity St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He raised $50,000 for the charity. Politically, Lovitz supported the Democratic Party but later spoke about cancel culture. He has also talked about antisemitism.
