Marblehead is a village in Ottawa County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 865. It is located at the tip of the Marblehead Peninsula, which separates Lake Erie from Sandusky Bay. Because of its beautiful lake frontage, Marblehead is a popular vacation spot, especially in the summer. Many visitors enjoy fishing, taking ferries to the Lake Erie Islands, and exploring nearby attractions such as Lakeside Chautauqua and the famous Cedar Point amusement park.
One of the most notable landmarks in Marblehead is the Marblehead Lighthouse, the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the American side of the Great Lakes. The lighthouse is part of Marblehead Lighthouse State Park and is a popular site for tourists. Marblehead also has a United States Coast Guard station, ensuring safety for boats on the lake.
In addition to its natural beauty, Marblehead plays an important role in industry. It is a major producer of limestone, which is mined from nearby quarries. The limestone is moved by conveyor belt to a loading dock, where it is placed onto commercial lake freighters for transport.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village of Marblehead has a total area of 4.31 square miles (11.16 km2). Of this, 3.31 square miles (8.57 km2) is land and 1.00 square mile (2.59 km2) is water.
Marblehead has a humid continental climate, which means it has four different seasons. Lake Erie helps keep the temperature comfortable, especially in spring and fall. July is the warmest month, with an average temperature of 73.2 °F (22.9 °C). January is the coldest, averaging 24.6 °F (-4.1 °C). February is the driest month, with about 1.7 inches (44 mm) of rain. June gets the most rain, about 3.7 inches (94 mm).
Demographics
As of the census in 2010, Marblehead had 903 people living in 417 households. Most people were White, with smaller numbers of African American, Native American, Asian, and Hispanic or Latino residents. Many households were made up of married couples. The average family size was about 2.5 people. The median age was 55.7 years, and nearly half the residents were 65 years or older.
In the 2000 census, there were 762 people in 332 households. The racial makeup was very similar, with most residents being White. The median age was 49 years. A small portion of the population lived below the poverty line.
Economy
Marblehead's economy benefits from its beautiful lakefront location. Many people in Marblehead have jobs in fishing, boating, and tourism. Visitors enjoy nearby attractions such as Cedar Point, Put-in-Bay, and Kelleys Island. Marblehead is the main mainland port for the Kelleys Island Ferry Boat Line, which carries passengers and vehicles to Kelleys Island. Other popular spots include Lakeside Chautauqua and Bay Point Resort.
Quarrying is also important to Marblehead's economy. The village is a major producer of limestone in the region. The Lafarge Quarry mines limestone and sends it from the Marblehead loading dock.
Education
Marblehead and nearby Danbury Township are served by the Danbury Local School District. The district has an elementary school, a middle school, and a high school called Danbury High.
The village has a branch of the Ida Rupp Public Library System called the Marblehead Peninsula Branch. It provides library services to the community.
Media
Marblehead is part of the Sandusky/Lake Erie Islands radio market and the Toledo TV market. The village has an internet radio station called WPCR - PortClintonRadio.com. It gives local sports, weather, and fishing reports.
Marblehead’s news comes from The Beacon, the Port Clinton News-Herald, and the Sandusky Register. This is the biggest newspaper in the area.
