Ding Ning

Ding Ning (Chinese: 丁宁; pinyin: Dīng Níng; born 20 June 1990) is a former Chinese table tennis player. She is best known for winning the gold medal in women's singles at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Ding also achieved great success at the World Table Tennis Championships, winning three titles in women's singles in 2011, 2015, and 2017.

In the 2012 Summer Olympics, Ding won a silver medal in women's singles. She was also part of the Chinese team that won gold in the team event at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. Ding is considered one of the most successful female table tennis players in history, along with other greats like Li Xiaoxia, Deng Yaping, Wang Nan, and Zhang Yining.

After retiring from professional table tennis in September 2021, Ding began studying at Peking University, where she is working toward a master's degree in Physical Education. Her achievements have made her a role model for many young athletes around the world.

Career records

Ding Ning had a very successful career in table tennis. She won the World Championships three times in singles (2011, 2015, 2017) and also won the World Cup in 2011, 2014, and 2018. She achieved many victories in Pro Tour events and secured a gold medal at the Olympics in 2016, after winning a silver medal in 2012.

In doubles, Ding Ning also performed well, winning several titles in women's and mixed doubles events. Her team events included multiple first-place finishes at the World Championships and Asian Games.
