Hard court

A hard court (or hardcourt) is a special kind of surface used for playing sports, especially tennis. It is usually made from strong materials like asphalt or concrete. To make it safe and easy to play on, the surface is covered with a special coating called acrylic resins. This coating helps protect the surface and marks the lines players need to follow during a game.
Hard courts are very popular for tennis because they are strong and last a long time. They are used in many famous tournaments around the world. While wooden floors were once used inside for sports like basketball, they are not common for tennis anymore. Today, most tennis players you see on TV are likely playing on a hard court, which provides a smooth and even playing field for exciting matches.
Tennis
Tennis hard courts are made from synthetic or acrylic layers placed on top of concrete or asphalt. They can be different colors and usually play medium-fast to fast. The ball bounces high on these courts, and players can use many types of spin. The speed of the bounce depends on how much sand is in the top layer โ more sand makes the ball bounce slower.
The US Open and the Australian Open use hard courts, and they are the most common surface type on the professional tour.
Maintenance
To keep hard courts in good shape, they are often brushed, pressure washed with cleaning solutions, and treated with chemicals to stop moss and algae from growing. Anti-slip paint is also used to make the courts safer and better for playing.
Prominent brands
Some well-known brands that make hard court surfaces for professional tennis tournaments include DecoTurf, GreenSet, Laykold, Plexicushion, Rebound Ace, and SportMaster Sport Surfaces. These brands provide the durable and cushioned surfaces that players compete on in major tennis events.
