In mathematics, a Lie n-algebra is a special kind of structure that extends the idea of a Lie algebra. A Lie algebra is a vector space with a special operation called a bracket, which helps mathematicians study symmetry and geometry. Lie n-algebras take this idea further by adding more complex operations.

For example, in a Lie 2-algebra, a key rule called the Jacobi identity from ordinary Lie algebras is replaced by something new called an isomorphism, named the Jacobiator. This change allows mathematicians to explore more detailed and richer structures.
