Mathematische Annalen (abbreviated as Math. Ann. or, formerly, Math. Annal.) is a German mathematical research journal that began in 1868. It was started by two important mathematicians, Alfred Clebsch and Carl Neumann. Many famous mathematicians have helped guide the journal over the years, including Felix Klein, David Hilbert, and Heinrich Behnke.
The journal changed publishers after a few years. Volumes 1 through 80, published between 1869 and 1919, came out by Teubner. Since 1920, starting with volume 81, Springer has been the publisher. Sometimes, the journal faced challenges, like a brief pause in publishing between 1945 and 1947.
Today, Mathematische Annalen is led by Yoshikazu Giga from the University of Tokyo. It remains an important place where mathematicians share new ideas and discoveries.
