Pianoteq is a special kind of music program called a software synthesizer. It lets musicians create sounds of real pianos and other similar instruments right on their computers. You can play and change these sounds using a device called MIDI, which helps control the music.
This program can be used on many different types of computers, including those that run on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, iPadOS, and Linux. It also works as a plug-in for other music programs called digital audio workstations, making it very flexible for different kinds of music making.
Pianoteq can mimic many kinds of piano-like instruments, such as electric pianos, harps, harpsichords, fortepianos, and metallophones. This means musicians can explore a wide range of sounds and styles with just one tool.
History and technology
The original version of Pianoteq was released in August 2006. This software creates sounds from scratch using math to mimic real instruments like electric piano and acoustic pianos. It also adds small sounds such as pedal noise and key release to make the music feel more realistic.
You can get extra instruments for Pianoteq. Some of these were made as part of a project called KIViR, which aims to create digital models of old keyboard instruments found in museums, such as the Händel-Haus in Halle.
Instruments
Pianoteq can create the sounds of many different musical instruments. It includes models of famous pianos like the Steinway and Bechstein, as well as other instruments such as harpsichord, concert harp, vibraphones, and xylophone. You can also find electric pianos, like the Hohner Pianet, and percussion instruments such as steelpans.
