Tower Fifth

Tower Fifth is a skyscraper that was planned for Midtown Manhattan in New York City. The project was developed by Macklowe Properties, a company that has worked on other famous buildings such as the General Motors Building and 432 Park Avenue. Ideas for this new tower were first shared in January 2019. Over the next year, the company bought several buildings to make space for the tower, with some demolition permits filed in April 2020.
If built, Tower Fifth would stand 1,556 feet tall, making it the fifteenth tallest building in the world. It would also be the tallest in New York City by roof height, just a little taller than the nearby Central Park Tower. However, in April 2025, part of the land meant for the tower was sold for $15 million, changing the plans for the area.
Facade
The facade of Tower Fifth, designed by Gensler, includes a special closed cavity system that helps keep the building cooler by reducing sunlight heat by 70 percent. As the tower grows taller, its shape stays mostly the same until it reaches the top, where there is a special observation deck that sticks out and has several floors.
