142nd IOC Session

The 142nd IOC Session was a big meeting held in Paris, France. It took place from 22 to 24 July and had one extra day on 10 August 2024. This meeting happened during the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The IOC Session is where important decisions are made about the Olympic Games and many sports around the world. This meeting brought together leaders from many countries to talk about the future of the Olympics and other sports events.
Proceedings
The 142nd IOC Session began on July 22 with an opening ceremony led by French president Emmanuel Macron at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in the Bois de Boulogne. The ceremony was very grand.
On July 23, the IOC met at the Palais des Congrès de Paris near the Porte Maillot. They decided that the Olympic Esports Series would change to the Olympic Esports Games, with the first event planned for Saudi Arabia in 2025. The group also heard about new ways to use artificial intelligence in Olympic activities.
On July 24, the IOC chose the hosts for the 2030 and 2034 Winter Olympics. The French Alps will host in 2030, and Salt Lake City in the United States will host in 2034. This was special because the French Alps were chosen while the meeting was happening in France, something that had not been allowed before.
On August 10, Indian Olympic shooter Abhinav Bindra received the Olympic Order, an honor given to him earlier on July 23.
