1997 London Marathon

The 1997 London Marathon was the 17th running of the annual marathon race in London, United Kingdom. It happened on Sunday, 13 April. Portugal’s António Pinto won the elite men’s race. Kenya’s Joyce Chepchumba won the women’s race.

In the wheelchair races, Britain’s David Holding and Sweden’s Monica Wetterstrom won the men’s and women’s divisions. Many people wanted to join the race, and thousands ran. Most of them finished.
