2017 Canadian Championship

The 2017 Canadian Championship was a soccer tournament hosted by the Canadian Soccer Association. It was the tenth time this yearly event happened.

In 2017, a new rule was added. Each team had to start with three players who could play for the Canada men's national soccer team. This helped Canadian players show their skills.

Because of changes in another soccer tournament, the winner of the 2017 Canadian Championship was supposed to play an extra game against Toronto FC, the winner from 2016. But since Toronto FC also won the 2017 championship, they went straight to the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League without any extra game.

Preliminary round

On May 3, 2017, a match was played at TD Place Stadium in Ottawa. Another match happened on May 10, 2017, at Clarke Stadium in Edmonton. Ottawa Fury FC won with a score of 4–2.

Semifinals

On May 23, 2017, a match was held at TD Place Stadium in Ottawa. The next day, on May 31, 2017, another match took place at BMO Field in Toronto. Toronto FC won with a score of 5–2.

Also on May 23, 2017, a match occurred at BC Place in Vancouver. On May 30, 2017, another match was played at Saputo Stadium in Montreal. Montreal Impact won with a score of 5–4.

Final

The final matches were held on June 21, 2017, at Saputo Stadium in Montreal. The second final match took place on June 27, 2017, at BMO Field in Toronto. Toronto FC won with a score of 3–2.
