35 Hudson Yards

35 Hudson Yards, also called Tower E, is a tall building in Manhattan. It has places to live and a hotel. The building is part of the Hudson Yards project, which is making changes to the area near Hell’s Kitchen, Chelsea, and Penn Station.

As of November 2022, 35 Hudson Yards was the 28th-tallest building in the United States. It looks special in the city’s skyline and is near many popular spots.

History

The 35 Hudson Yards building was first shown to the public in summer 2011. It is part of the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project and is located at 11th Avenue and West 33rd Street. The building's design changed from a round shape to a rectangle in December 2013.

Construction started in 2015 and finished in 2019. The building officially opened on March 15, 2019, with the hotel opening a few months later in June. In July 2023, it was reported that about half of the apartments in the building had not been sold yet. In November 2025, Mori Trust bought a large part of the building for $540 million. This included the hotel and some office space.

Architecture

The building was designed by David Childs from the firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. This firm also worked on the building’s structure, with help from other experts like Jaros, Baum & Bolles for special systems.

The building was planned to be 900 feet tall, but in 2013, the design changed to a taller, cylindrical shape about 1,000 feet high. Inside, you’ll find stylish designs with special wood and stone details.

The building includes hotel rooms, a special lounge area, and medical offices. The first floor is the lobby, which has artwork from artist Helena Hernmarck. There are shops on some floors, and part of the building is used by Equinox Fitness for their offices and a large gym. The hotel part has many rooms and services, and the top floors have fancy homes. There are also fun places like a yoga studio and a golf simulator. In 2019, a restaurant named Electric Lemon opened on the 24th floor.
