Aaron Glenn

Aaron Devone Glenn, born on July 16, 1972, is an American football coach and a former player. He is the head coach for the New York Jets in the National Football League, or NFL.

Before this, he had several important coaching jobs. He was the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions from 2021 to 2024. He was also the defensive backs coach for the New Orleans Saints from 2016 to 2020, and an assistant coach for the Cleveland Browns from 2014 to 2015.

Glenn played football for 15 seasons in the NFL. He was a cornerback for several teams, including the New York Jets, Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the New Orleans Saints. Before the NFL, he played college football for the Texas A&M Aggies.

He has a younger brother, Jason Glenn, who also played in the NFL from 2001 to 2006 with the Jets, Dolphins, and Vikings. The two brothers even played together during Jason’s first season.

Early life

Aaron Glenn was born in Humble, Texas. He played football when he was young in the Humble Area Football League and went to Nimitz High School in Houston, Texas. At his school, he played football for four years. In his last year, he ran for more than 1,000 yards, caught the ball for more than 200 yards, and caught seven passes without letting the other team get the ball. He also played basketball and track.

Playing career

Aaron Glenn started his football career in college. He first played for Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, where he did very well. He then went to Texas A&M University, where he kept playing great and was named one of the top players in his conference.

Glenn was chosen by the New York Jets in the 1994 NFL draft and played there for eight years. In 1996, he set a team record with a 100-yard touchdown from an interception. He also played for the Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New Orleans Saints during his 15-year career. He made many key plays and was chosen to play in the Pro Bowl.

In 2012, Glenn became the general manager for the Houston Stallions in the Texas Lone Star Football League. This league is an indoor football league with teams only from Texas.

In June 2012, he returned to his old team, the New York Jets, as a scout. His job was to help pick new players.

Coaching career

On May 18, 2014, Glenn became an assistant defensive backs coach for the Cleveland Browns.

On January 13, 2016, he joined the New Orleans Saints as their secondary coach.

On January 23, 2021, Glenn was hired by the Detroit Lions as their defensive coordinator under head coach Dan Campbell. In 2023, he signed a new contract with the Lions. His defense did very well.

On January 22, 2025, Glenn became the head coach of the New York Jets. The team struggled at first but won a few games later in the season. After the season, Glenn made changes to his coaching staff. On January 28, 2026, he hired Brian Duker, who was formerly with the Miami Dolphins, as his new defensive coordinator. A week later, he hired Frank Reich, a former head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and the Carolina Panthers, as his new offensive coordinator.

Aaron Glenn is married to Devaney Glenn. They got married in 1994 when they were in college. They have three children: two girls and one boy.
