Allaire Corporation

Allaire Corporation was an American computer software company. It was started by brothers Jeremy and JJ Allaire in Minnesota in May 1995. The company later moved its main office to Cambridge and then to Newton, Massachusetts.

Allaire Corporation is most famous for making ColdFusion, a tool that helped people build websites quickly. This tool let developers create websites that could connect to databases.

In January 1999, the company had its initial public offering on NASDAQ. A few years later, in early 2001, another company called Macromedia bought Allaire Corporation.

History

Allaire made a tool called ColdFusion in 1995. This tool helped people create websites that could change using information from databases. It used a special way of writing code that was easier for developers.

The company also made other tools for building websites. Later, it bought a company that made software for running Java programs. In 2001, a bigger company named Macromedia bought Allaire. Then in 2005, Adobe bought Macromedia, and ColdFusion became one of Adobe's products.
