Allgäu
Adapted from Wikipedia · Adventurer experience
The Allgäu is a beautiful region in southern Germany. It covers parts of Bavarian Swabia, southeastern Baden-Württemberg, and even reaches into Austria. It stretches from the lands just before the Alps up into the mountains.
Two important rivers, the Lech and Iller, flow through this area.
The Allgäu is well-known for its stunning landscapes. Many people visit to relax and enjoy the scenery. In winter, the high mountains are popular with skiers. The region is also famous for its tasty dairy products, like Hirtenkäse ("herdsman's cheese") and Bergkäse ("mountain cheese").
Besides tourism and farming, making industrial machines is important here. One famous product is the Fendt tractor, made in Marktoberdorf. The famous castle of Neuschwanstein in Hohenschwangau is also in the eastern part of the Allgäu.
The southern part of the Allgäu is shaped by the Allgäu Alps. Glaciers and old glacial debris helped form the hills and lakes we see today.
