Anthoptilidae is a family of sea pens. Sea pens are special animals that live deep in the ocean. They belong to a group called Sessiliflorae. This means they stay in one place and have flower-like structures.

Scientists described two main groups within Anthoptilidae. The first group is called Anthoptilum. It was named by Kölliker in 1880. The second group is Benthoptillum. It was named by Verrill in 1885. These animals show the amazing variety of life in the ocean. They help us learn how different species live in deep-sea environments.
