Ayoun el Atrous (also known as Aioun el Atrouss) is a town in southern Mauritania. It is located at around 16°40′0″N 9°37′0″W / 16.66667°N 9.61667°W / 16.66667; -9.61667. The town is the capital of the Hodh El Gharbi region.

The city has an airport called Aioun el Atrouss Airport. It is about 6 kilometres (4 miles) northwest of the town. Ayoun al Atrous lies in the southern part of Aoukar, an area that was once a large lake basin.

In 2007, Ayoun al Atrous was one of the stops in the Dakar Rally race.
