Geography
Borås is a city in Sweden. It is located where two railways meet. One railway connects Gothenburg and Kalmar. Many people believe Borås grew because of the railway system built across Sweden between 1870 and 1910.
History
Borås became an official city in 1621 when King Gustav II Adolf gave it special rights. This helped local traders sell their goods legally and allowed the government to collect taxes. The city grew quickly after this. Within about a hundred years, more than 2,000 people lived there.
Sadly, Borås faced big fires four times—in 1681, 1727, 1822, and 1827. Even with these challenges, the Caroli church, the city's oldest building, survived them all. In 2021, Borås celebrated its 400th anniversary as a city.
