Bozoum

Bozoum is the capital of Ouham-Pendé, one of the 14 prefectures in the Central African Republic. It is an important town in the region. It helps with local government and community activities. Though not as large as some other cities, Bozoum is key to the area. People there work in farming, trade, and other daily activities that help the community.

History

In the early 1920s, Bozoum was chosen as a place for a mission by a group called the Brethren. They built a mission station on a hill outside the village, naming it after a nearby mountain called Bassai. Though the mission is no longer there, two important missionaries are buried in that spot.

Bozoum got electricity for the first time in 1976. Over the years, the town has seen changes in who controls it. In 2014, one group left, and another took over. In 2019, the government sent forces to protect important businesses. In late 2020, rebels took control, but government forces regained it by February 2021.

Climate

Bozoum has a tropical wet and dry climate. This means it has clear wet and dry seasons. This type of climate is found in many places and shapes the weather and nature of the area.
