Buoux

A beautiful view of Buoux, a historic village in the Luberon region of France, nestled in the French countryside.

Buoux is a small commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southeastern France. It is located on the north side of the Luberon, an area known for its tall cliffs. Because of these cliffs, Buoux is a popular spot for people who like rock climbing.

The town has ruins of an old fort from the 13th century that was torn down in 1660. Over the years, Buoux's population has changed. In 1836, it had 244 people, but by 1961, the number dropped to 44. Since then, the population has grown, reaching 122 in 2006.

Today, Buoux does not have many industries. Most people work in tourism, with several bed-and-breakfasts and restaurants, or in agriculture, producing lavender, honey, and truffles.
