Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences

The Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences (CBMS) is an umbrella organization that brings together seventeen groups that study math in the United States. These groups work together to support and advance the study of mathematics.

The CBMS was created in 1960. It grew from earlier groups that started during World War II and developed over the next years. The CBMS represents U.S. mathematics in the International Mathematical Union and helps share ideas between its member societies and the U.S. government. It also works on joint projects for these societies.

This organization helps mathematicians stay connected and work together on important projects that benefit the whole math community.
