Cross-country skiing at the 2026 Winter Olympics – Women's 20 kilometre skiathlon

The women's 20 kilometre skiathlon competition in cross-country skiing at the 2026 Winter Olympics happened on 7 February at the Cross country and biathlon center Fabio Canal in Tesero. This fun race had skiers from all over the world. They had to race a long way, changing between two different skiing styles.

Frida Karlsson from Sweden won the gold medal. This was her first big win in the Olympics. She had won a team bronze medal before in 2022. Her Swedish teammate Ebba Andersson came in second, getting her first individual Olympic medal. Heidi Weng from Norway won the bronze medal, adding to her Olympic successes.

This race was one of the best parts of the Winter Olympics. It showed how strong and determined these athletes are. Their great skiing excited many fans and showed how amazing cross-country skiing can be.

Background

In the last Winter Olympics, the women's skiathlon was 15 km long. For the 2026 Winter Olympics, it was changed to 20 km to match the men's race. Some past winners are not racing this time, but others like Teresa Stadlober and Jessie Diggins are ready to race. Ebba Andersson won the world championship in this event in 2025.
