A beautifully patterned snake called Cyclocorus lineatus lineatus, found in the Philippines. This species is part of the rich biodiversity of Luzon.

Cyclocoridae is a special group of snakes that lives only in the Philippines. These snakes are part of a larger family called elapoid snakes, which includes many kinds of snakes found around the world. Because these snakes are found nowhere else, they are very important for scientists who study unique animals and their homes. Learning about Cyclocoridae helps us understand how animals adapt to specific places and why protecting their environment is important.

Taxonomy

Cyclocoridae is a family of snakes that scientists found in 2017. These snakes live only in the Philippines. They are closely related to each other but are different from other snake families.

Scientists learned that these snakes belong to their own special family, different from others like Lamprophiidae. They probably began to change and evolve on their own about 35 to 40 million years ago. Not much is known about these snakes, such as where they live, how they act, or how to keep them safe.

Genera and species

There are five groups of these snakes. Some groups have two snakes and others have just one. The groups and their snakes are:
