The Emblem of Yemen shows a golden eagle of Saladin. The eagle holds a scroll with the country's name in Arabic: الجمهورية اليمنية, meaning "The Yemeni Republic." On the eagle’s chest is a shield. The shield shows a coffee plant and the Marib Dam. There are seven blue wavy stripes under the shield. On either side of the eagle are flagstaffs holding the flag of Yemen. The emblem represents Yemen’s history, culture, and important places.
