Go-Ahead London

Go-Ahead London is a big bus company that helps people travel around Greater London and some nearby areas like Kent and Surrey. The company started using the name Go-Ahead London in August 2008. It is the biggest bus operator in Greater London.

Go-Ahead London has many buses—2,270 in total—that work for Transport for London. It also has many electric buses, which helps make travel in London cleaner.

History

The Go-Ahead Group is a big transportation company based in Newcastle. It began working with buses in London in September 1994. At that time, it bought London Central and later London General, two bus companies that were part of London Buses.

Over the years, Go-Ahead London grew by buying more bus companies. In 2006, it bought Docklands Buses, and in 2007, it bought Blue Triangle. By then, it had become the biggest bus company in London.

In August 2008, Go-Ahead London started using its own name and logo on its buses. In 2009, it took over East Thames Buses, adding more routes and bus depots. In 2012, it bought a garage from First London. In 2023, Go-Ahead London began taking over bus services in Kent, planning to use electric buses by April 2025. In 2025, it also took over a route between Orpington and Dartford.

Current subsidiaries

Go-Ahead London has several parts that make up its company. These parts were added at different times:

• London General (added in May 1996 for main routes, and in April 2014 for Metrobus London routes)
• Docklands Buses (added in September 2006)
