Herald is a small place in Sacramento County, California. It is east of the city of Galt along State Route 104. The ZIP Code is 95638, and the area code is 209. In 2020, 1,160 people lived there.

One special part of Herald is where the Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station used to be. This big power station is closed now, but its old cooling towers are still there. They are the tallest buildings in California's Central Valley. Today, the site has a newer gas plant and a solar power place.

Nearby is a park called Rancho Seco Recreational Park. The park has a lake that was made for the old power plant. Now, people go there to have fun.
