KTAL TV Tower

The KTAL TV-FM Tower, also called the Nexstar Broadcasting Tower Vivian, is a very tall building that sends television signals. It is 1,558 feet tall. It was built in 1961 and was once the tallest building in Louisiana and the fourth tallest in the whole world. It is near Vivian, Louisiana.

Besides KTAL-TV, the tower also carries the radio station KTAL-FM, called “98 Rocks.” Both stations are licensed to Texarkana, Texas. The tower was first built by Clyde E. Palmer, who also owned the Texarkana Gazette. Later, the stations were sold to different companies. The TV station went to Nexstar Broadcasting Group and the radio station to Access.1 Louisiana Holding Company.
